2018 Georgetown Prep Classic: Info
Saturday, October 20, 2018
The bus will depart from DeMatha promptly at 6:45am*. It is, approximately, a 45-minute drive to Georgetown Prep in North Bethesda, MD.
*Last year this meet did not start until 1pm, which is why I thought we'd be getting a later start this year. They moved the times for the meet up, but at least we will get back home before 7pm!

Registered Athletes
Our seeded varsity team at Georgetown Prep will consist of Thomas, Hayward, James, Jaiden, Manuel, Westley, and Ashby.
Our unseeded varsity team at Georgetown Prep will consist of Steven, Gavin, Julius G, Keme, Julius H, London, and Dominic.
Our junior varsity team at Georgetown Prep will consist of all 10 of our other non-freshman athletes while our freshman team will consist of all eight freshmen on our roster. While I did intend to run two or three of our freshmen in one of the varsity races, I chose to avoid the Open Race so that we don't have to leave at or before 6am to get to the meet and the only way to avoid that race was to max out our entries in the other three races, which I was barely able to do.
That said, if anybody entered in the seeded varsity or unseeded varsity cannot attend, please let me know as soon as possible so I can make substitutions before the 6pm deadline on October 14.
Estimated Return to DeMatha
2:30pm (give or take depending on traffic)
We WILL NOT stop for food on our return trip this week.
Athletes:
Wear your racing uniforms
SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS FOR COMPRESSION GEAR WORN UNDER THE UNIFORM: Compression shorts, if worn, MUST be the same BLUE as our school color (ROYAL BLUE) and stop above the knee. Compression shirts may be short or long sleeve (though I recommend no compression shirts unless the weather is exceptionally cold) but MUST be WHITE . If a logo is visible on either piece of apparel, it must be Under Armour.
Wear your team gear (if you did not order any or if yours has not arrived yet, you must wear Under Armour clothing to warm up in; do not show up in just your uniform). I finally heard back from our distributor on Tuesday and he says we should have the gear from our second order this week. Fingers crossed!
Wear your training shoes. No flip-flops until after you've cooled down.
Pack your racing spikes. These should not be your primary shoes for the course walk and warmup/cooldown; these are only to be worn during the race.
Everyone must pitch in during set-up and/or take-down in regards to the tent, tarp, etc.
Additional Important Details
The distance for this course is 5 kilometers.
Parents and relatives are encouraged to attend. However, please plan for your son to remain with the team until we leave at approximately 1:45pm. We are a team and unless there are extenuating circumstances requiring you leave early, our varsity athletes should be supporting the JV athletes who run after them, just as the JV athletes support our varsity athletes who run first.
Parents will receive an email from SignupGenius to volunteer to bring food and drinks for the boys. These items should be dropped off at the school with your son on Saturday morning.
Athletes will be told to call/text their ride when we leave Bethesda.
I will also send an alert via Remind when we leave.
As of Wednesday, Oct. 10, the forecast for Oct. 20 is sunny and 60 degrees. I will try to update this as we approach the day of the meet.
