Award Ceremony
This is a championship meet. Regardless of how we perform on Saturday we will remain, as a team, to the conclusion of the awards ceremony in the interest of good sportsmanship. As it is a fairly small meet (only ten boys teams and ten girls teams), and considering the number of athletes who receive individual awards is quite a bit lower than most meets we have attended, this will not be a significant time commitment.
Estimated Return to DeMatha
3:00pm (give or take depending on traffic and how long our "WCAC Tailgate" lasts - see details below)
We WILL NOT stop for food on our return trip, but there will be a picnic at the park following the Awards Ceremony
Athletes:
Wear your racing uniforms
SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS FOR COMPRESSION GEAR WORN UNDER THE UNIFORM: Compression shorts, if worn, MUST be the same BLUE as our school color (ROYAL BLUE) and stop above the knee. Compression shirts may be short or long sleeve (though I recommend no compression shirts unless the weather is exceptionally cold) but MUST be BLUE. If a logo is visible on either piece of apparel, it must be Under Armour.
Wear your team gear
Wear your training shoes. No flip-flops until after you've cooled down.
Pack your racing spikes. These should not be your primary shoes for the course walk and warmup; these are only to be worn during the race.
Everyone must pitch in during set-up and/or take-down in regards to the tent, tarp, etc.
One of the Seton parents is organizing a "WCAC Tailgate" and wants to include DeMatha. She is organizing the girls to bring food, we will be responsible for drinks and paper products/plastic utensils. I will include these on the signupgenius list for this week.
Additional Important Details
The distance for this course is 5k.
Parents and relatives are encouraged to attend. However, until your son has raced and cooled down he must remain with the team or he will be withdrawn from the race. This is non-negotiable. Coach must remain aware of each athlete's location until either he dismisses them to leave with their guardian or until arrival back at DeMatha.
Athletes will be told to call/text their ride when we leave Centreville. I will also send an alert via Remind when we leave.
If you have any questions, contact coach directly.
